Anthropic built a custom centralized source-control system called Scion because its Git-based infrastructure could not keep up with Claude-generated code. In May 2026, the company averaged around 2,500 code changes merged per day, but as of September, it merged over 30,000 per day. Anthropic states it does not expect this rate of growth to slow down anytime soon.
