Minneapolis Proposes Human Monitor for Waymos

Minneapolis has proposed a rule called 'Workers Drive Minneapolis' requiring a licensed, minimum-wage human driver to be in the driver's seat of any autonomous rideshare vehicle at all times. The proposal, aimed at protecting jobs and public safety, would require companies like Waymo to obtain a city license. Waymo, currently testing in Minneapolis without passengers, has called the rule a de facto ban on autonomous vehicles.
