Shopify now lets browser-based AI agents complete purchases on merchant sites, extending beyond product search and cart additions. The update adds WebMCP support for checkout, including Shop Pay, with three tools: get_checkout, update_checkout, and complete_checkout. Agents can read and modify checkout details, then place orders after buyer authorization. The feature rolls out to all eligible Shopify merchants, contrasting with Amazon and Adidas blocking such agents.
