Microsoft and the American Federation of Teachers have agreed on a legally enforceable standard for AI use in schools. The National AI Safety & Privacy Standard prohibits using student or teacher data to train AI models and bans monetizing collected data. The agreement follows failed federal legislation and local bans in New York City and Los Angeles. The AFT is in talks with OpenAI and Anthropic to adopt the same standard.
