UPI to Charge 0.4% MDR on Large Transactions

UPI will introduce a 0.4% merchant discount rate (MDR) on person-to-merchant transactions above ₹2,000 from October 15, 2026, ending its six-year zero-MDR regime. The fee is capped at ₹300 for transactions of ₹75,000 and above.
