US Installs Hurricane-Proof Underwater Habitat

DEEP anchored the Vanguard underwater habitat in June at Tennessee Reef, 4.5 miles off the Florida Keys. The 220-ton structure withstands Category 5 hurricanes via a steel foundation. It opens to paying customers in early 2027 for underwater scientific research.
