NHTSA Moves to Remove Robotaxi Brake Pedals

NHTSA proposed amending Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 135 to eliminate brake pedals from autonomous vehicles that do not require them. The rule change does not alter stopping distance requirements. Waymo already operates without human monitors, while Tesla tests Cybercabs without human inputs in Austin.
