On September 30, the Information Commission replaced the Information Commissioner as the UK's data protection regulator, transferring statutory powers from a single person to a corporate board. The change, created by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, follows the resignation of Information Commissioner John Edwards in June after a workplace investigation. The ICO also moved its headquarters from Wilmslow to Manchester.
