Discord bug banned 8,000 accounts over grid images

A bug in Discord's safety system mistakenly banned over 8,000 accounts since May 2026 for posting grid-like images including chessboards, game textures, and Minecraft inventories. Discord cofounder and CTO Stanislav Vishnevskiy confirmed the bug affected around 200 users posting grid pictures and about 8,000 posting other benign images. All affected accounts have been unbanned.
