Europe finalizes plans for its 'sovereign' Starlink competitor

The European Commission signed an agreement with ESA and manufacturers for IRIS², adding 66 satellites for a 348-satellite constellation. The boost increases secure governmental capacity by 60 percent within the EU and 54 percent globally. First launches are planned for 2029.
