Chainalysis reports that cumulative payments for AI agents on the Base blockchain rose from 1,500 in mid-2025 to 138 million by the third quarter of 2026. The x402 protocol, launched by Coinbase in May 2025, enables bots to pay for services using stablecoins like USDC.
