Brooklyn Man Gets 12 Years for $16M Coinbase Phishing

Ronald Spektor, 23, was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to 31 counts for stealing nearly $16 million from about 100 Coinbase users. Posing as exchange staff, he told victims their funds were at risk and moved crypto to wallets he controlled. He must pay nearly $16 million in restitution and forfeit over $500,000.
