Android 17 is messing up some Pixel phones' touch input

Pixel users on Android 17 report touchscreen issues including erratic scrolling and reversed swipe direction. Multiple Pixel generations (10, 9, 8, 7) are affected. Google acknowledged the bug and suggested clearing Pixel Launcher cache, but that fix did not work for all users.
