ITAT Delhi Rules Stipend Tax-Exempt

The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) Delhi ruled on July 30, 2026, that a Rs 18.34 lakh stipend received by a student from Aligarh Muslim University for her PG Medical education is tax-exempt. The tribunal directed the deletion of the addition to her income, overturning earlier decisions by the Income Tax Department and the Commissioner of Appeals.
