PrismML, a Khosla Ventures-backed Caltech spinout, confirmed talks with Apple about its AI model-shrinking technology. The startup reduced Alibaba's Qwen model from 54 GB to under 4 GB, enabling all 27 billion parameters to run on an iPhone 15 or newer. The compressed models use 10-15 times less memory and generate responses 6-8 times faster.
