India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Thailand, and Vietnam spent a combined $7.4 billion on spot LNG since the US-Iran war began, more than double the cost for similar volumes under long-term contracts a year earlier. The surge follows supply disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz, cutting off contracted Qatari shipments and forcing buyers to seek expensive alternatives.
