Denmark's national population registry was breached, exposing names, addresses and CPR social security numbers of about 8.8 million people, the digitalization ministry said Monday. Attackers exploited a Danish company's lawful access rather than hacking the registry directly. Authorities revoked that access, reported the breach to the data protection authority and opened a police investigation.
