Rivian Doubles Down on Voice Control Over Buttons

Rivian chief software officer Wassym Bensaid told The Verge the company believes its AI-driven voice assistant is a better primary interface than physical buttons. The Rivian Assistant, introduced to R1 models in mid-May, controls core functions like HVAC. Rivian will not follow other automakers in bringing back physical buttons.
