UK Spy Agency Lost Thousands of Drives

The UK watchdog IPCO states that GCHQ cannot account for thousands of lost data storage devices including USB sticks and hard drives. The 2025 annual report notes the agency failed to track these items used extensively for intelligence gathering. Five innocent people were wrongly detained. Lord Brian Leveson wrote the report. UK Ministry of Defence lost 87 classified USB drives.
