NASA X-59 Tests Quiet Supersonic Flights

NASA's X-59, a Lockheed Martin-built experimental jet with an elongated nose to soften sonic booms, first flew in 2025 and is now breaking the sound barrier over selected US towns while NASA surveys residents on acceptable noise levels. The programme tests whether quiet supersonic travel can revive overland commercial routes banned since Concorde.
