Cops, CrowdStrike disrupt Sality botnet via sinkhole

International law enforcement, CrowdStrike, and Shadowserver Foundation disrupted Sality, a 23-year-old P2P botnet infecting over 15,000 machines. The operation used peer-to-peer sinkholes to isolate bots, breaking the operator's control. Sality's payload EggJagger stole at least $150,000 in cryptocurrency by swapping wallet addresses.
