Bumblebees can spontaneously solve problems, study finds

Bumblebees solve object-manipulation tasks without training by rolling balls into pits to reach flowers. The study in Science shows they can reposition objects as tools to access unreachable rewards. Olli Loukola of the University of Finland co-authored the research. This is the first documented case of spontaneous problem-solving in insects.
