The Problem with Using a UUID Primary Key in MySQL

Using UUIDs as a primary key in MySQL can drastically hurt database performance when used incorrectly. UUIDs are designed for distributed systems but their random nature causes index fragmentation and slower inserts compared to sequential keys.
