NASA's Mars rover test model may go to the Moon

NASA is considering sending the Earth-based test model for the Curiosity and Perseverance Mars rovers to the Moon's south pole. The rover would be renamed PROMISE and would scout the lunar south pole, characterize the surface and subsurface, and prospect for resources. Losing the test model would increase risks for the Mars rovers.
