4A Games released the first gameplay trailer for Metro 2039, confirming a February 2027 launch. The story follows the Stranger, a fully voiced protagonist, returning to a Moscow Metro united under the Novoreich, a totalitarian regime led by a new Führer named Hunter. The trailer shows stealth, gunplay, a new stealth weapon called The Shatun, and a breaching charge.
