China caps EV energy use at 15.1 kWh/100 km by 2026

China's first mandatory EV energy consumption standard takes effect January 1, 2026. The rule caps 2-ton passenger cars at 15.1 kWh per 100 kilometers. Automakers must upgrade new vehicles. Compliance is expected to boost driving range by about 7% with unchanged battery capacity.
