Custom CPU Runs Doom on FPGA

A custom CPU built from scratch at the logic gate level successfully ran Doom on an FPGA. The design uses a 5-stage pipeline with separate instruction and data caches to handle DDR3 memory latency. The CPU previously only ran simple programs like Pong and Mandelbrot sets.
