Canada Probes IDScan Over Massive Data Breach

Privacy Commissioner of Canada Philippe Dufresne opened an investigation Monday into IDScan.net after hackers stole personal data and driver's license scans of 153 million people. The probe will examine the company's security practices and whether it adequately notified victims under Canada's federal privacy law. IDScan disclosed the breach on September 4 but did not say how many customers were affected.
