U.S. set to end brake pedal requirements for driverless vehicles

The U.S. Department of Transportation plans to remove brake pedal requirements for fully driverless vehicles. NHTSA will propose updating Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards as soon as June 25. The change applies only to vehicles designed to operate without a human driver, clearing the way for more robotaxis from Tesla and Waymo.
