Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix will invest 800 trillion won ($518 billion) to build a new chipmaking hub in South Korea's southwest region. President Lee Jae Myung joined the companies' chairs in announcing the plan. Each company will build two fabrication plants in the area, expanding beyond their existing Gyeonggi Province complexes.
