MIT associate professor Areg Danagoulian modeled a method to detect nuclear weapons in Earth's orbit using neutron signals from interactions with trapped high-energy protons. A CubeSat with commercially available equipment weighing up to 18kg could identify a thermonuclear weapon at 4 km distance after about a week of observations.
