How we tested and evaluated AI-generated dance videos

CalMatters and The Markup tested nine dance styles across four AI video models: Sora 2, Veo 3.1, Kling 2.5, and Hailou 2.3. None produced a figure performing the prompted dance. About a third of videos had frame inconsistencies and limb abnormalities, though issues improved from late 2024 testing.
