NASA X-59 Quiet Supersonic Jet Nears Noise Test

NASA's X-59 completed its 25th flight on August 21 from Armstrong Flight Research Center, reaching Mach 1.2 at 49,000 feet. The jet is designed to produce a sonic thump instead of a boom, with acoustic validation testing planned later this year.
