Google, Amazon report increased emissions due to data centres

Google and Amazon reported increased greenhouse gas emissions in 2025 driven by expanded networks of AI data centres. Google noted an eighteen per cent increase while Amazon revealed a sixteen per cent jump last year for similar reasons. Both companies face challenges meeting net zero targets despite massive spending on artificial intelligence infrastructure that runs counter to environmentally friendly business practices.
