London robotaxi launch bypasses new driverless law

Uber and Wayve launched London's first autonomous ride-hailing service on 3 September with licensed drivers aboard, using private hire permits instead of the Automated Passenger Services scheme effective 15 May. No operator has completed stage one of that driverless permit process.
