Google plans a Chrome security feature blocking policy-installed extensions from hijacking the New Tab page or search engine on unmanaged Windows and macOS devices. The protection, spotted in Chromium Gerrit changes, would cancel installations and save blocked extension IDs. It has not shipped yet.
