Researchers at Zhejiang University published a preprint called Bit2Watt showing a cloud tenant could destabilize a power grid using rented GPUs. The attack modulates GPU power draw over 6,000 times per second. A simulated 1,000-GPU attack on a solar-and-battery grid caused instability and wasted nearly half its current. On a European transmission model, it shed about 81% of the load.
