Samsung will start charging for SmartThings API access in October 2026. A $4.99 monthly plan targets non-commercial individual developers. The change affects third-party tools like Home Assistant but not the standard SmartThings app. Samsung says fees will fund enterprise-grade features and a new Developer Center.
