Cleveland-Cliffs Redirects $500M Clean Steel Funds to Coal

Cleveland-Cliffs and the DOE will continue coal use at Middletown Works, abandoning a $500 million hydrogen-ready DRI plant plan. The revised project adds a natural gas cogeneration plant, keeping the coal furnace and its pollution, which causes 37 to 67 premature deaths annually.
