UK CMA Toughens Google Choice Screen Rules

The UK's Competition and Markets Authority published strengthened proposals on Wednesday requiring Google to include AI assistants like ChatGPT on Android and Chrome choice screens. Google would prompt users yearly to pick a default search service. Comments close October 9, with a final decision expected by year's end. The CMA says the plan responds to the rise of AI assistants used as search.
