FERC orders faster AI data center grid connections

The U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will order grid operators to expedite AI data center connections. Projects that bring their own power or cut usage during high demand qualify for fast-track processing. Studies for these changes must be completed in 90 days. PJM Interconnection raised power costs by 75.5%, largely blamed on AI data centers.
