US, Mexico Sign Colorado River Water Deal

The US and Mexico signed a new binational agreement, Minute 334, on September 2 in El Paso, Texas. The deal reduces Mexico's annual Colorado River water allocation by 250,000 acre-feet, a 17% cut from its original share under the 1944 Water Treaty. It allows Mexico to store some water in Lake Mead and continues joint environmental restoration funding in the Colorado River Delta.
