Chrysler Debuted 'Auto-Pilot' Technology Way Back In 1958

Chrysler introduced Auto-Pilot cruise control on the 1958 Imperial. Engineer Ralph Teetor, a blind University of Pennsylvania graduate, patented the Speedostat in 1948. The system used an electromagnetic lock to maintain constant speed. GM's Cadillac adopted it in 1959 as Cruise Control.
