India Notifies CAFE III Fuel Efficiency Norms

India has notified CAFE-3 fuel efficiency norms for passenger vehicles, effective April 1, 2027 to March 31, 2032. Battery electric vehicles count as three vehicles in fleet averages. Manufacturers must meet annual fuel consumption standards, with credits and debits tracked in a passbook. Non-compliance is assessed at the end of each compliance block.
