Underwater Camera Monitors New Artificial Reef

Researchers at the Marine Institute of Memorial University have installed an underwater camera to monitor a new artificial reef in Placentia Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador. The project, which began in summer 2025, involved placing 285 concrete reef balls to restore a seafloor zone affected by vessel activity. The live camera feed shows marine life like cunners, crab, lobster, and sea urchins returning to the habitat.
