UK plans autonomous AI 'Cyber Shield' for defense

Britain's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) plans Cyber Shield, a sovereign defense capability using agentic AI to autonomously discover and fix cybersecurity weaknesses across government networks and critical national infrastructure. Paired red and blue AI agents will probe and defend systems. The NCSC issued an open invitation to academia, frontier AI labs, and cyber defense organizations to help develop the blueprint.
