University of California San Diego surgeons and engineers completed the first preclinical trial using teleoperated humanoid robots. One surgery paired a humanoid robot with a human surgeon. A second laparoscopic gallbladder removal was performed entirely by two humanoid robot surgeons. The robot, named Surgie, stands five feet tall and weighs 60 pounds.
