Apple published a letter explaining why Flash is barred from iPhones, iPods and iPads, citing proprietary control, poor security and mobile performance. Apple pushes open HTML5, CSS and JavaScript instead, noting H.264 video plays up to 10 hours on iPhone versus under 5 hours for software-decoded Flash. Adobe had delayed mobile Flash repeatedly.
