A federal judge approved Anthropic's $1.5 billion settlement with authors over using pirated books to train Claude. The agreement resolves claims for 482,460 works, with 91.3% claimed. Judge Alsup's fair-use ruling for training remains intact but nonbinding. Payments occur in four installments through September 2027.
