Bilal Chughtai, a former Google DeepMind researcher focused on AGI safety and alignment, has resigned from the company. In a public statement, he cited a belief that AI has the potential to kill humanity and that time to avoid this outcome may be running out. He has since joined the AI safety organization BlueDot.
